My first music ... bathed in sounds

I was raised with lots of music in the house.

I think the first record I heard might have been a Tommy Steele 78 disc "Singin' the Blues" or "Rebel Rock". Or perhaps Wilfred Pickles doing "Peter and the Wolf"! - only one disc!

(Philharmonia Orchestra, Igor Markevitch, Wilfred Pickles – Peter And The Wolf Op. 67)

Then there was Ray Starita And His Ambassadors Band playing "The Wedding Of The Painted Doll"

If one finished listening and turned over the record, there on the other side was "Wake Up! Chillun, Wake Up!"

Holst*, The B.B.C. Symphony Orchestra*, Sir Adrian Boult – "The Planets" Suite, Op. 32: Mars, The Bringer Of War Gustav Holst, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Sir Adrian Boult – "The Planets" Suite, Op. 32

As I grew up, Mum and Dad would bring home new records - Dvorak and Beethoven, the Beatles and Dylan. I learned to play music at school and at home.
